Nothing says Summer like Richmond Hill Inn
Our Victorian landscape features manicured gardens and natural areas, monuments, and several water features. The formal Parterre Garden at the Garden pavillion is fashioned after the great parterres of the Victorian age simple, geometrically landscaped gardens with paths between the beds.
Cascading down the natural slope of the grounds into a series of small pools, the mountain brook flows to a nine-foot waterfall in the Parterre Garden. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Parterre Garden from the elevated terrace that sits above the waterfall. On the other side of the terrace, watch Japanese koi swim amongst water plants in a pool. Sitting near the waterfall and listening to the sound of rushing water, it's hard to imagine a more tranquil setting.
The croquet lawn is not regulation size, but every bit as fun. Guests in a competitive mood may reserve the court free of charge. The Sidney Lanier Garden centers around a monument honoring the noted poet and musician who camped on Richmond Hill in 1881 in an attempt to regain his failing health. Two benches in the garden offer a perfect spot for a moment of reflection.
Woven among the buildings are six acres of spectacular Victorian gardens adjacent to an additional 40 wooded acres with walking trails.
